A Little Change Can Make a Big Difference!
Thanksgiving Day was fantastic! But leading up to that day, I was discontented….. miserable at times…..I was struggling with a few things and did not feel the "Thanksgiving Vibes."Earlier in the week, a family member died and by midweek I was in no mood to travel.I had slipped into a funk and was struggling to get out of it.Life happens.....And.... the holidays can be a difficult time for some of us.We know we should get out and get around family and friendsBut the struggle is real....We'd much rather withdraw and be aloneBecause the holidays are supposed to be a time of joy and celebrationAnd, right now, you don't feel like celebrating. But a little change in your attitude, your perspective, your outlook.... can make a BIG differenceAnd create lasting memories for you and for others. It’s not gonna happen without intention and determinationAnd a willingness to accept support from others. That's what happened to me.......I had to push myself, but I was also willing (eventually) to accept love, support, and encouragement. It turned out well!I had a blast!!Here are my two cents…..
- Don’t let holiday blues ruin your holidays. Be vigilant, be realistic, plan ahead and seek support from people who can help.
- It's OK to take time to cry or express your feelings. You can't force yourself to be happy just because it's the holiday season.
- The holidays don't have to be perfect or be “just like last year”. Be open to new ways of celebrating.
- Finally….. Social media makes it difficult to avoid comparing yourself to others..... but, don’t compare your “insides” to someone else's “outsides.” Don’t label yourself. Create your own memories.
In the end, we can all make a difference…. no matter where we are!
“Today we’re sure to encounter folks in various struggles. Imagine the difference we might make when we respond humbly - as fellow humans who work together with other humans in crisis. —Elisa Morgan
