Maintaining health and wellness requires lifestyle change and commitment.

Managing my weight has been a personal struggle most of my life, but recently I embarked on another weight loss project with my friend Karla.

For this project, I signed up with Nutrilite’s BodyKey, and as part of their program, I completed a genetic test and received the results two weeks later.

According to my genetics, in order to lose weight and keep it off, I need to cut calories and do high-intensity exercise frequently and consistently.

The biggest challenges for me is eating regularly and exercising regularly. It’s an uphill battle!

Many people struggle with their weight.

Managing your weight is a balancing act, and exercise and calories are part of that equation.

Weight loss comes down to burning more calories than you take in, and you can do that by reducing extra calories from food and beverages and increasing calories burned through physical activity.

According to experts, the key to successful weight loss is a commitment to making indefinite changes in your diet and exercise habits, and keep in mind that calories, portions, and nutrition count.

The good news is that even a small amount of weight loss can lead to big health benefits so we should strive to develop good habits that will last a lifetime.

It is also highly recommended to always discuss your weight loss plans with your doctor before getting started.

A healthy weight loss program consists of:

  • A reasonable, realistic weight loss goal

  • A reduced-calorie, nutritionally-balanced eating plan

  • Regular physical activity

  • A behavior-change plan to help you stay on track with your goals

  • A commitment to developing healthy lifestyle habits that will help you maintain your weight in a healthy range

You can't manage what you don’t measure.

Setting realistic goals and keeping track of your progress are keys to successful weight management.

Research has shown that those who keep track of their behaviors are more likely to lose weight and keep it off. Also, a reasonable rate of weight loss is 1 to 2 pounds per week.
